I have a USR Robotics 56K External modem that I stupidly did the free online
update to V92 awhile ago now. Since then the only way it wants to connect to
my ISP is to add the following to "Extra Commands" under Modem Properties in
Control Panel (W98SE)
+PIG=1 +PMH=1 +PQC=3
What I want to do now is limit the modem's "starting baud rate detection
logic" to 33.6 as I live in a rural area and never connect faster than
31,200 and normally it's only 28.8 as it's 16Km to phone switch. I'm simply
tired of all the "noise" (and length of time it takes) until it negotiates
yet do not want to simply turn off the "volume".
Help appreciated.
